Police in Canada have ruled out any foul play in the death of an Indian-origin teenager who was found charred to death in a Walmart oven last month. According to the police, during the investigation into the death of 19-year-old Gursimran Kaur, nothing suspicious was found.??
Gursimran was found charred to death in a large walk-in oven at the Walmart Supercenter in Halifax, Nova Scotia, on October 19.??
"The police investigation determined the death is not suspicious, and there is no evidence of foul play," the city of Halifax said in a statement on Monday.??
¡°We conducted several interviews, reviewed video footage, and worked very closely with our partners at the Nova Scotia Department of Labour and Medical Examiner Service. We do not believe anyone else was involved in the circumstances surrounding the woman¡¯s death,¡± Martin Cromwell, public information officer for Halifax Regional Police, told NBC News.??
Gursimran and her mother, both immigrants from India, were employed at Walmart in Halifax, where the teenager was found dead on the evening of October 19.??
Gursimran's charred body was discovered by her mother, who started looking for her after not seeing her for one hour and finding her phone unreachable.??
After her body was found inside the walk-in oven, many, including former Walmart employees, raised suspicions that she was murdered and claimed it was not possible for someone to get accidentally trapped inside.??
In a viral video, Chris Breezie, who claimed to be an employee of the same store, alleged that the teenager could have been thrown into the oven by a second person.??
"Now, somebody could throw me in there and lock me in there, but that's a whole different scenario," she said.
