As coronavirus cases continue to mount, the peculiar situation that the United States finds itself in, has put President Donald Trump's administration in a tight spot.
The States has over a million confirmed cases of COVID-19 and the death toll has topped 60,000. While the country continues to find it difficult to contain the spread of virus, Trump has for most parts pinged the blame on China, for his country's suffering.?
In a latest of tirades, US President has called the World Health Organisation (WHO) ¡°a pipe organ for China." It marks a latest attack at the global health organisation and China, the country where the coronavirus originated.?
Trump has launched an investigation into the WHO's role in the spread of coronavirus and have accused it of siding with China during the pandemic. Pending an investigation, the President has stopped US aid to the WHO.
The investigation would look into the role of China and as to how coronavirus spread from its Wuhan city.
This is not the first time Donald Trump has fired a salvo at China, blaming the country for doing little to contain the spread of virus when it first originated in the city.?
Here's everything Donald Trump has said so far about China.
In his new rant, Donald Trump has said he believes China¡¯s handling of the coronavirus is proof that Beijing ¡°will do anything they can¡± to make him lose the upcoming elections in November.
In an interview with Reuters, Trump criticised China and said the country should have been more ¡°active¡± in letting the world know about the coronavirus much sooner.
¡°China will do anything they can to have me lose this race,¡± he said.
Last week,? Donald Trump accused the World Health Organisation (WHO) of becoming a tool of "Chinese propaganda."
The Donald?Trump-led?administration labelled these allegations against the global health agency and asserted that the organisation has lost its credibility during the ongoing coronavirus crisis.? ?
"It's not like the WHO has been a highly-credible organization for many years. The United States spends over half a billion dollars on the WHO. China spends about USD 40 million dollars on the WHO, about one-tenth of what the US spends, and yet the WHO has become a tool of Chinese propaganda," he alleged.
Not so long ago, President?Donald Trump?said he wants to send an expert team China to investigate the coronavirus outbreak.?
This came after he warned China of "consequences" if it was knowingly responsible for spreading coronavirus which taken the lives of over 2,10,000 people globally, of which more than 60,000 are from USA.? ?
Two weeks back, US President announced that States will put a hold on funding to the World Health Organisation while they review the WHO¡¯s involvement.
Trump accused the WHO of being biased towards China in how it issued its guidance during the outbreak. During the press briefing, he had said, "They called it wrong," he said, adding, "They really, they missed the call. Fortunately, I rejected their advice on keeping our borders open to China early on. Why did they give us such a faulty recommendation?"
At the beginning of the month, Donald Trump cast doubt on the accuracy of official Chinese figures on its coronavirus outbreak after US lawmakers, citing an intelligence report, accused Beijing of a cover up.
¡°How do we know¡± if they are accurate, Trump asked at a press conference. ¡°Their numbers seem to be a little bit on the light side.¡±
