Many people were injured due to a bomb attack at a World War I commemoration ceremony. It was attended by European diplomats at a non-Muslim cemetery in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, according to France's foreign ministry as per a report in AFP.?
"The annual ceremony commemorating the end of World War I at the non-Muslim cemetery in Jeddah, attended by several consulates, including that of France, was the target of an IED attack this morning, which injured several people," the ministry said.?
"France strongly condemns this cowardly, unjustifiable attack," it added.?
In October, a Saudi man wounded a guard with a knife at the French consulate in Jeddah. This was the same day that a man killed 3 people with a knife in a Church in Nice, France.?
The blast came in the wake of French President Emmanuel Macron, who has been unpopular with most of the Muslim world due to his promise of taking on Islamist radicalism after such attacks, attending a WWI memorial ceremony in Paris.?
Many countries are marking the 102nd anniversary of the armistice signed by Germany and Allied countries which brought an end to the war.
