Brandon Gill, a Republican politician and US Congressman, has hit out at an NRI man who celebrated his caste group organising a volleyball tournament in Dallas. Gill, a Trump loyalist and first-term US Congressman from Texas, termed immigration without assimilation as 'national and cultural suicide'.
He was responding to Dylan Patel, the founder of SemiAnalysis, who posted on X about his caste (Leuva Patidar Samaj) volleyball tournament in Dallas, Texas.
"Everyone from a part of Gujarat and same way of life in the US. Literally everyone here owns a motel or gas station in rural America," Patel said.
The Patel community, which traces its roots to Gujarat, has a significant presence in the US and is most notable for its dominance in the motel sector there.
Responding to Patel, Gill said, ¡°America is the ¡®land of opportunity¡¯ precisely because we DON¡¯T have a caste system.¡±
"We cannot sustain America¡¯s prosperity and liberty by importing foreign class allegiances. Immigration without assimilation is national and cultural suicide," he added.
Gill's post on X soon went viral with fellow MAGA supporters, who are already opposed to the immigration of non-whites to the US, including Indian nationals on H-1B visas.
"Only immigrants who accumulate should be let in," said one person, while another said all of them should be sent back.
"They all need to go back. Every single legal means of entry needs to be halted for the next 100 years," he said.
"Assimilation of non-European people isn¡¯t possible. We will always be at odds with one another," yet another X user said.
As the debate continued, an X user pointed out that Gill's wife is of Indian origin.
Gill is married to Danielle D'Souza, the daughter of Dinesh D'Souza, who was born in India and moved to the US, where he became a citizen in 1991.
