Finding a job these days is like a wild goose chase. The rapid adoption of AI and continuing layoffs by even the biggest companies in the world have made switching jobs a near-impossible task for many. Simone Margaritelli, a techie, learned this the hard way when he was rejected by three top tech companies just days apart.
"Rejected by both Google and Cloudflare in less than 48 hours," Margaritelli wrote on Twitter on Wednesday. He then followed it up with another post reading, "And now Amazon too," on Thursday.

According to Margaritelli, he was actively looking for a job for the first time in 13 years and after a two-year sabbatical, which he said was scary.
Margaritelli found it ironic because he is not considered qualified as a senior software engineer, AI engineer, or defensive tech engineer, even though he has spent over 15 years working in those fields. He also said that some of these companies are even using his code.
"Ages ago, I developed one of the first WAFs before Cloudflare was even a thing (evilsentinel, in PHP, it was crap but visionary). Google scans Android apps for malware every single day with my code... Amazon is working with technologies I have a patent for... but I'm not qualified, I guess! LOL, how freaking disconnected is the hiring process from reality," he wrote further.

The post soon went viral, and many on social media rushed to comfort him and encouraged him to stay motivated.
"People with lots of experience (10+ years) are getting rejected because they're too expensive compared to 3-5 years experience they can turn into seniors/staff for cheaper," one person wrote. Many also offered to help him with leads to find a job.
Overwhelmed by the responses he received, Margaritelli said he was thankful to everyone who extended support to him.
