Donald Trump is all set to return to the White House on January 5, 2025, and unlike in 2016, this time the Republican won the US Presidential election with a resounding margin, securing both the Electoral College and the popular vote. This does not, however, take away the fact that there is still a large number of Americans who do not have a favourable opinion of the incoming US president, to put it mildly.??
Following the November 5 US Presidential election results, many have claimed that they would rather leave the US than live under Trump for four more years.??
While many who want to leave the US are eyeing a move to neighbouring Canada, a village in Italy is making an offer that is nearly impossible to resist.??
Ollolai, a village on the island of Sardinia, is calling on Americans to relocate there following the 2024 presidential election. The best part is that Americans willing to move to the Mediterranean island can get a house for just $1.??
Ollolai recently launched a "Live in Ollolai" initiative, offering homes for Americans who are "worn out by global politics" and "looking to embrace a more balanced lifestyle."??
And the offer seems to have worked, as the village's website received over 156,000 visitors and more than 30,000 requests from would-be residents within a day.??
The Mayor of Ollolai, Francesco Columbu, admitted that the website was created in the wake of the presidential elections but did not mention Trump by name.??
"Of course, we canĄ¯t specifically mention the name of one U.S. president who just got elected, but we all know that heĄ¯s the one from whom many Americans want to get away now and leave the country,Ąą Columbu told CNN.??

Ollolai, like many Italian villages, has been facing an acute depopulation crisis. In the past, Ollolai had also tried attracting foreigners to settle there, making the $1 home offer for the first time in 2018.
