Yuvraj Singh was overlooked for the Indian Test squad despite some good scores in the Ranji Trophy.
The southpaw has not played Tests since 2012 and his last ODI was in 2013. He has been a regular in the T20I version. He returned to the team after a one-year gap after winning his fight with cancer.

With this latest setback, his dreams of playing the 2019 ICC World Cup are all but up in smoke.
Let's take a look at why this may have been his last chance to play for Team India:
1. No longer the player he once was
AFP
He is well past his prime and certainly not the dashing stylish player he used to be.
2. Considering him is a backward step
AFP
Time is not on his side and selectors may not consider him for matches in the future.
3. Struggles against quality pacers
AFP
Good fast bowling is the order of the day and with slow reflexes, he is prone to falling early.
4. Has nothing to prove to anybody
AFP
The man has achieved a lot and now it is likely to look for fresh blood to come on to the scene.
5. Not a long-term option
AFP
Even if he is picked, he turns 35 this year and ?the odds of him playing for too long are minimal.
