The impasse between International Tennis Federation (ITF) and All India Tennis Association (AITA) continues to rumble on over Davis Cup tie between India and Pakistan.?
ATP
The tie is supposed to take place on 14 and 15 September in Islamabad, but after Pakistan downgraded diplomatic ties with India after the scrapping of Kashmir's special status, AITA has been requesting ITF to change the venue to a neutral territory and also postpone the Davis Cup tie.
The International Tennis Federation (ITF) though has communicated to the All India Tennis Association (AITA) that timings or the venue for the September 14-15 tie won¡¯t change as of now. The ITF has send the detail to AITA regarding security arrangements and offered them to have a discussion on Monday with their security consultants.
AITA secretary general Hironmoy Chatterjee told PTI, "¡°They have shared their security plans and based on that, they feel the timings (dates) or the venue need not shift. They are not understanding the tension that has been prevailing between the two nations."
¡°We had asked for a dialogue with the ITF Board but they said the Board does not deal with Davis Cup matters, it¡¯s the Davis Cup committee which does. So ITF security advisors and Executives will now discuss the matter with us on August 19", he added.?
If ITF does not accept the request of AITA to change the venue, and India decides not to send it's team, India will have to forfeit the tie and Pakistan will be declared winners.?
