Gurpreet Singh Sandhu, who is the first Indian to play for a proper club in Europe, has now become the first Indian to play in the Europa League.
Sandhu plays for the Norwegian club Stabaek FC and on Thursday he started as the goalie against?Connah's Quay FC in a qualifying match. By doing so he has now become the first footballer from India to feature in a top European competition.?
Talented Sandhu kept a clean sheet for the time he was on the pitch and sadly injured his hand in the 30th minute. He was then substituted by?Ivory Coast goalkeeper Sayouba Mande.?
In India, Sandhu plies his trade for East Bengal in the I-League. He had already created history last month when he became the first Indian to appear in a top flight European League game while playing for Stabaek in Norwegian Tippiligaen which is the Norway's national league. Sandhu had made his Stabaek debut last year in January after moving to Norway in 2014.?
Stabaek finished third last season but are currently struggling in the relegation zone.
