Over the past couple of years or so, Virat Kohli has been hailed as Sachin Tendulkar's successor.
He has been piling on the runs across all formats, particularly in ODIs. As of now he is the best bet to break the Master Blaster's record of most ODI centuries.

One man who thinks he can do it is Windies opener Chris Gayle. Gayle and Kohli open for RCB in IPL and the 37 year-old is confident that the Indian skipper will become the first player to slam 50 ODI tons.

Kohli currently has 28 to his name while Sachin made 49.
Gayle makes a good point. The numbers are in Kohli's favour. Form and consistency are what make him the best bet to get that far. The way he is going, he might get there in a few years. Of course time is the biggest factor and he needs to stay fit.

So let's wait and watch. Only the longevity of his career determines how far Kohli goes. He is too far away from the Test mark at the moment, but in the shorter version has the advantage.?
Make no mistake, he is not the next Sachin Tendulkar, he is the first Virat Kohli.
