Did Virat Kohli have a say in picking the next Team India coach after Anil Kumble? Did the Cricket Advisory Committee actually consult the Indian captain while choosing one among the five candidates that applied for the coach job?
We now have the answers. Virat Kohli did consult CAC members VVS Laxman and Sachin Tendulkar before the coach's name was decided, that too before the Champions Trophy.
According to reports, Kohli met Tendulkar and Laxman before leaving for England for the Champions Trophy. Laxman and Tendulkar are the only two members of the CAC who were in favour of Ravi Shastri becoming the coach of Team India.?
Ganguly, owing to his strained relations with Shastri, was not in favour of his Shastri's candidature. Kohli met the two members to push Shastri's name ahead. Then soon after the Champions Trophy ended, Kumble decided to step down as coach as his relations with Kohli had already deteriorated beyond repair.
