WWE superstar Sheamus on Monday missed out on a rare opportunity despite picking up a win via disqualification on the latest episode of Monday Night RAW. Sheamus challenged Bron Breakker for the Intercontinental Championship on RAW, but the match ended in a disqualification after the Celtic Warrior was ambushed by Ludwig Kaiser.
The two have a long history and have often fought throughout this year, stemming from Sheamus's feud against Gunther.??
The 46-year-old Irishman, who has been with WWE since 2006, once again failed to capture the one title that has eluded him throughout his nearly two-decade career - the Intercontinental Championship.??
Sheamus, who is a former three-time WWE Champion, a one-time World Heavyweight Champion, a three-time United States Champion, a four-time RAW Tag Team Champion, and a one-time SmackDown Tag Team Champion, has to win the Intercontinental Championship to become a WWE Grand Slam Champion.??
Only around two dozen superstars have had the honour of being WWE Grand Slam Champions - winning all four singles championships the company has to offer and at least one of the tag team championships.??
The WWE Grand Slam Champions include the likes of Kurt Angle, the Big Show, Daniel Bryan, Edge, Eddie Guerrero, Jeff Hardy, Chris Jericho, Kane, JBL, Shawn Michaels, Rey Mysterio, Randy Orton, Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, AJ Styles, Triple H, and Rob Van Dam.??
Sheamus, who is also a King of the Ring, Money in the Bank, and Royal Rumble winner, is currently in the league of John Cena, who is set to retire from WWE in 2025. Cena, who is a 16-time world champion, is not a WWE Grand Slam Champion as he too has never won the WWE Intercontinental Championship.??
