World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) is reportedly considering some changes to this year¡¯s Hall of Fame ceremony to avoid a repeat of 2024. According to WrestleVotes, WWE was not happy with how events unfolded in 2024, as a large section of the attendees in Philadelphia left the venue after Paul Heyman¡¯s induction.
Former Japanese female wrestler Bull Nakano, former NWA wrestler Thunderbolt Patterson, Lia Maivia (the mother of The Rock and the promoter of Polynesian Pro Wrestling), and the tag team The US Express, comprising Barry Windham and Mike Rotunda, were also inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2024.
"The only thing I can say is they were not happy with how everything happened last year in Philadelphia¡ in terms of the size of the crowd that was left even a half hour through. Once Paul Heyman was done speaking last year, the majority of the crowd left, and WWE was not thrilled with that," WrestleVotes reported.
WWE previously held the Hall of Fame ceremony as a separate event. The ceremony featured a stage, but inductions have taken place in the ring since 2022.
WWE introduced the Hall of Fame in 1993, with Andr¨¦ the Giant as the first inductee. Since 2004, WWE has made the Hall of Fame induction an annual event held ahead of WrestleMania.
As of 2024, there are a total of 245 inductees in the WWE Hall of Fame. This includes 131 wrestlers inducted individually, 46 legacy inductees, 19 group inductions, and 14 celebrities.
