According to an Indian Express report, Raja Vijayaraman was flown to San Jose by Apple for its World Wide Developers Conference without him knowing that he was actually going to win the Apple Design Award.
Apple selected Raja Vijayaraman's calculator app, called Calzy, for the design innovation award. The iPhone calculator app reimagines how a calculator app should be by adding some much-needed features to Calzy.
Unlike most calculator apps, which only let you make one calculation, Calzy lets you do a lot more in an elegant package.
The app is highly customizable, letting you "Drag & Drop to share results in other apps, and help you perform day-to-day mathematical calculations in a more elegant way," Apple said in a statement late Tuesday.
"Calzy is one of the finest calculator apps on iOS," according to Beautiful Pixels, an Indian website that focuses its commentary on user interface design, "and it¡¯s easily one of the best apps to have installed on your device."
All said and done, congratulations are surely in order for Raja Vijayaraman on his award winning app.
