Today with smartphones in our palms, the world doesn't seem as scary as it used to feel, and one of the reasons behind that is the apps that are loaded on them.?
Today we have apps for almost everything and we know how they've truly altered our lives. And recently,? a nine-year-old from Mumbai too has developed an app to make our lives better.
Meet Garvit Sood, the 9-year-old app developer that has created an eye-checkup app named Drishti that detects disorders. He¡¯s learnt to code at WhiteHat Jr. -- an EdTech startup that teaches coding to kids from the age of 6 to 14 years.?
Being a victim of late detection, which was later identified as astigmatism, Garvit wanted to utilize his knowledge of coding to create an app to solve this issue. It is an easy to use app where the user needs to read alphabets/numbers of different sizes on the screen of their phones.
According to their level of reading accuracy, the user will be notified of his vision score. It can tell the user whether there is any need to go to the doctor for further checkup.
The app can be a boon to people living in rural areas where access to a doctor. Even doctors can use this app to test the eyes of their patients for an initial diagnosis.
For his creation, Garvit has won one of the twelve places in WhiteHat Jr¡¯s? Silicon Valley Program, winning across 7000+ entries from across India, where kids were invited to think of an original idea that solves a real-life problem and code an app independently.?
As a part of this program, he¡¯ll be visiting the Silicon Valley in San Francisco, California to pitch his app to top venture capitalists (VCs) like Nexus Venture Partners and Owl Ventures.?
He will also learn about entrepreneurship, get an opportunity to visit Googleplex and interact with their engineers, as well as visit the Waymo facility -- Google¡¯s self-driving tech -- to experience driverless cars and talk to their product managers.
