After Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh, it is the turn of West Bengal to switch to a greener mode of commute?for its public transport services. Powering this move is Tata Motors, which has recently announced that it will be supplying 80 electric buses to the West Bengal Transport Corporation.
As per the announcement, the firm has bagged an order of 40 units of 9-metre Ultra Electric AC e-buses and another 40 units of 12-metre e-buses. Tata Motors says that while 20 of the former units have already been delivered to the state, another 20 will be handed over by March 31. The 12-metre e-buses will be rolled out in a phased manner.

With a capacity of 31 passengers, the Ultra Electric buses are powered by electric motors backed by Li-Ion battery claiming a range of up to 150 km on a single charge. The buses have been manufactured on existing platforms of Starbus and Ultra at Dharwad.
Tata Motors is looking to complete its target of delivering 255 electric buses across 6 different cities of India. One of these is Lucknow, where the company has promised 40 electric buses to be rolled out in a phased manner within the next four months. Indore, Jammu, Assam and Jaipur are the other four cities in the plan.?
