Amazon is jumping on the TikTok train! The e-commerce company is rolling out a news feed in the Amazon app with images and videos of items, the Wall Street Journal reported.
The feed is called "Inspire" by Amazon and is the company's attempt to make their app more social media like. Inspire will appear in the Amazon app as a lightbulb icon, rolling out to select shoppers in the US this month.
It appears that Amazon is also recruiting influencers to produce videos for the Inspire feed. As reported by WSJ, Inspire was first tested with employees this summer.

Shoppers would be able to select from various categories like interior design, pets, skincare, and more in a TikTok-like feed. Users can then purchase items directly from these images and clips as they scroll, instead of going to the search bar and finding relevant products.
While TikTok is banned in India, its short-form video content may be comparable to Instagram Reels, wherein certain products available on Amazon are mentioned. This way, influencers earn a commission too.

Now, Amazon wants to capitalise on that. It already has a vast marketplace. With a social media-like approach, Amazon could get in with Gen Z users. Amazon is already looking to hire people to make this a reality.
If all goes well, shopping via a TikTok-like news feed could become an everyday feature of Amazon.
