Apple event: iPhone 16, Watch 10 and AirPods likely to debut on September 10

Apple is preparing to introduce its new product line, including the iPhone 16 series, at a special event on September 10. The Cupertino-based tech giant is expected to release updates to the Apple Watch and AirPods, marking another major product before the holiday season.

Bloomberg's Mark Gorman, who spoke about Apple's plans, said that sources familiar with the matter say that Apple is preparing for an event on September 10. Although the company has not yet confirmed a date, the launch will follow Apple's traditional schedule, with new devices available from September 20.

?The expected event follows Apple's previous model of hosting its fall announcements on the second Monday of September. The invitations to the event are expected to go out next week, which will make Apple fans even more excited.

In addition to the September event, Gorman said that Apple is conducting internal tests on new Mac computers with M4 chips. However, these Macs will not be eligible for the upcoming announcement.

iPhone 16 series: what’s new?

Apple's iPhone 16 lineup is expected to feature significant upgrades, particularly with the introduction of the A18 series chip. This new chip will come in various configurations, with the Pro models likely to include additional GPU cores for better graphics performance.

A notable addition to the iPhone 16 series is a dedicated camera button, designed to enhance camera functionality by enabling users to control focusing and zooming more effectively. While the camera hardware is not expected to undergo major changes, the iPhone 16 Pro is anticipated to feature the same periscopic telephoto lens found in the Pro Max model, offering 5x zoom. The standard models might see a redesign of the camera module, with sensors aligned vertically rather than diagonally.

Another change on the horizon is the inclusion of an Action Button on the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus, replacing the traditional Mute Switch. This feature was first introduced with the iPhone 15 Pro models. Additionally, a new Titanium Bronze color option is expected for the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max, replacing the current Titanium Blue.

Apple Watch Series 10: bigger and better

The Apple Watch Series 10 is set to see a size increase, with the smaller model growing from 41mm to 45mm, and the larger model expanding from 45mm to 49mm. This new generation of Apple Watches is also expected to feature a slimmer case design.

The larger sizes will accommodate bigger displays, and Apple plans to use low-temperature polycrystalline oxide (LTPO) technology in the OLED screens for dynamic refresh rate adjustments. Performance upgrades are also expected, with the new S10 chip and a dedicated Neural Engine for AI processing.

Third-generation AirPods: what’s coming

Apple's third-generation AirPods are likely to include two models: a standard version and a more affordable entry-level variant. Active Noise Cancelling (ANC) is anticipated to be a feature of the standard model, though it may be absent from the entry-level version.
