Apple is working on a high-end Apple Watch sporting a larger screen as well as a new design that will sit atop the existing Apple Watch Series 8.
Reported first by Bloomberg¡¯s Mark Gurman, the new high-end variant of the Apple Watch will sport a seven percent larger screen size compared to the Series 7, which already received an upgrade last year, offering a more edge-to-edge screen.
The watch is also expected to sport a longer battery life compared to the standard ones, which should be good news for power users. This could be via a new low-power mode that¡¯s under development.
Also included could be a body-temperature sensor -- something that has been reportedly in the works for a few years now and was expected to be on last year¡¯s Apple Watch.
Regardless, if this large watch does come into existence, this will be the first major design overhaul the product will have seen since the Series 4 that was launched in 2018.?
It is also indicative of the fact that it is now putting a lot more emphasis on power users who demand large screens with better battery stamina for their rigorous activities. It¡¯ll be interesting to see how inclusive it is for those users.
Apple Watch, even though it falls in the company¡¯s ¡®Other Products¡¯ segment, reported $8.81 billion in revenue last quarter, up 12.3 percent year-over-year. Bringing a newer product with the aforementioned features could even make the product enticing for those who haven¡¯t really considered buying an Apple Watch in the first place.?
Alongside the premium one, the Cupertino giant is also working on a new variant of its more affordable Apple Watch SE. We could expect it to sport hardware and features from the Apple Watch Series 6, with a refreshed software experience.
