The most common passwords in any country point to its population's general online safety awareness. Turns out, Indians have taken the "set a password" directive too literally by actually using the word "password" as the password.
Major yikes! The most popular password in India is actually "password," new research shows. The other country with "password" as the most used password is Japan. The new research was conducted by NordPass, a proprietary password manager.
Behind "password" are more common combinations and words commonly used by people in India. These are "iloveyou," "krishna," "sairam," and "omsairam" among many more, news agency IANS reported.
It is assumed that "12345" would be the most common password for all countries, but this research shatters that misconception. While "12345" is ranked fairly high in the list.

India loves love, clearly. The research shows how India prefers names and "loving words" over numerics. For example - "iloveyou," "sweetheart," "sunshine," "lovely." Are we a country of closeted romantics? We suppose so.
Other common passwords in India include generic running series like - "123456789," "india123," "qwerty," "abc123," "12345678," "abcd1234." Out of the 50 countries that were part of the analysis, 43 had "123456" as the most common password. As always, India had to stand out, along with six other countries.
The study also added how it would take professional hackers less than a second to hack 62 of the 200 passwords in India.?A strong password is the primary way to keep yourself and your personal information safe on the internet. If you use any of these generic passwords, we urge to change it immediately.
