With this Infosys becomes India¡¯s first signatory to the RE100, a worldwide initiative by companies to use 100% renewable energy for their operations.

The initiative is meant to invest in ¡°visionary companies whose product and service solutions will facilitate the transition to a low carbon economy¡± Amazon said in its annual update.
Amazon has now found major signatories to join the pledge, including the likes of Verizon, and Reckitt Benckiser (RB). Infosys was the second major signatory in the pledge.
Infosys has been pushing for the use of renewable energy for its operations since long now. The number amounted to 43.7% of its electricity needs being met through such clean energy across all its Indian campuses.
Rakesh Bohra, Lead Consultant Energy and Utility Services at Infosys shed more light on this in a recent webinar hosted by Mercom. As per Bohra, Infosys has 59 MW captive rooftop and ground-mounted solutions at several of its campuses in India.
