Infosys is often synonymous with its iconic co-founder, Narayana Murthy. However, among the seven founding members, another name has risen to the forefront in terms of wealth¡ªSenapathy 'Kris' Gopalakrishnan. The latest Hurun India Rich List 2024 reveals that Gopalakrishnan has surpassed Murthy in wealth, making him the richest Infosys co-founder.

According to the list, while Narayana Murthy and his wife Sudha Murthy hold the fifth position among Bengaluru's richest families with a net worth of ?36,600 crore, Gopalakrishnan has secured a higher spot with a fortune of ?38,500 crore.
Senapathy 'Kris' Gopalakrishnan co-founded Infosys and served as its CEO and Managing Director between 2007 and 2011. Following this, he became Vice Chairman of the company from 2011 to 2014.
Now 69 years old, Gopalakrishnan is currently the Chairman of Axilor Ventures, a startup accelerator that has backed companies such as GoodHome, Kaagaz, and EnKash.
?He holds master's degrees in physics and computer science from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras. In recognition of his contributions to the IT sector, he was awarded the Padma Bhushan, India's third-highest civilian honor, in 2011.
Gopalakrishnan is married to Sudha Gopalakrishnan, and the couple has founded the Pratiksha Trust, a charity organization focused on brain research.
According to the Infosys website, Gopalakrishnan is also on the Board of Governors of IIT Madras and IIM Bangalore, serves as Chairman of IIIT Bangalore, and is a trustee of the Chennai Mathematical Institute.
Infosys was born in 1981 in a one-bedroom apartment, the brainchild of seven engineers. The founding team comprised Narayana Murthy, Kris Gopalakrishnan, Nandan Nilekani, SD Shibulal, K Dinesh, and N S Raghavan.
