Microsoft's?Edge?browse has been making waves again, all thanks to its upcoming features that are going to be heavy on artificial intelligence, and specifically ChatGPT's advanced version.
Now, it appears that many?Edge?users are able to use an inbuilt VPN system for added privacy. Virtual Private Networks (or VPNs) work by masking the real IP address of users to protect them from being snooped on - be it from threat actors or in some cases, an authoritarian regime.?
Edge?browser's in-built Secure Network VPN is reportedly available to a few users with access to the latest stable version of the Microsoft browser.
If you're one of the lucky ones who have access to?Edge's in-built VPN, you're among a very small group. But this means that a full launch is imminent, and could come much sooner than previously thought.
The VPN functionality was reportedly being tested by Microsoft for a year, and it offers 1GB of free VPN traffic each month.?The in-built VPN feature was first spotted last year on Microsoft's online support page. This is all part of the?Edge?Secure Network and a stable version of VPN-enabled?Edge?browser could see the light of day soon.

This upcoming iteration of the browser is called?Edge?110, and was recently spotted by Twitter user Arnold Beckenbauer. Based on their screengrabs, it seems that the in-built VPN on?Edge?will offer 1GB of data free each month, and 15GB of free data in total. Naturally, if you cross this limit, users would have to pay up.
A DrWindows report also adds that the in-built VPN feature for?Edge?was developed in collaboration with Cloudfare. For now, the charges of?Edge's paid VPN services are not available.?
When you're using most VPNs, especially if you pay for a premium version, you can choose a server location of your choice to access content that may not be available in your country. But?Edge's VPN is expected to provide VPN access from within the same region. This way, the problem of "invalid location detected" may be solved.?

Twitter screenshots show that the?Edge?110 secure network will have three modes of operation - Selected Sites, Optimised, and All Sites. More details on what these features mean for users should come out soon.
