An IndiGo passenger was ecstatic after obtaining a handwritten boarding card during the global Microsoft outage on July 19, which also impacted booking and check-in services for several Indian airlines.?
Akshay Kothari, who was pleased to receive the boarding card, published a photo of it on X, and IndiGo responded to his post as well.The global outage interrupted the services of various airlines, including Air India, IndiGo, Akasa Airlines, and SpiceJet.?
Several airlines resorted to manual check-in and boarding operations at airports, urging passengers to arrive early.
While the majority of the passengers were dissatisfied with the overall delay, a few others went down memory lane as the handwritten boarding cards were distributed.?
For example, Akshay said in his post, which included a beaming face with a sweat emoji, "The Microsoft/CrowdStrike outage has brought down major airports in India. I received my first handwritten boarding pass today."
IndiGo responded to Akshay's message by thanking him for his patience throughout the outage and wishing that the "retro vibe" made his journey a "bit more memorable".
The huge disruption in Microsoft's cloud services caused extensive flight cancellations and delays in India, particularly at the airports of Delhi, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Pune, and Mumbai.?
Apart from airlines, banks, telecom businesses, TV and radio broadcasters were affected when blue screen of death error messages appeared on Windows PCs around the world.Meanwhile, Microsoft stated that the root cause of the global outage has been resolved, but the residual impact of cybersecurity failures is still affecting various Office 365 apps and services.?
