RGNT Motorcycles, a Swedish motorcycle manufacturer, seems set to roll out its first ever electric motorcycle RGNT No. 1. Though the electric bike was earlier poised to debut in May, the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has delayed its launch and as per recent update by the company, deliveries of the bike might start as early as July 2020. The bike has more than a passing resemblance?to the famous two-stroke Yamaha RX 100.?
Encompassing an electric powertrain in a retro-styled motorcycle, the RGNT No. 1 grabbed a lot of eyeballs since its unveiling at the MC Massan Swedish Motorcycle Fair in January last year. A little over a year after the debut, to date the company has managed to come up with a production version of the motorcycle and is now expected to launch it in select markets soon.
As for the electric motorcycle, the RGNT No. 1 is powered by a rear hub mounted motor capable of producing 11 kW (14.7 bhp) of peak power and reaching a top speed of 125 kmph for the bike. Backing this, is a 7,7 kWh battery that promises a range of 150 km on a single charge. The company claims that a 0-100% charge for the battery takes approximately 4 hours in a standard outlet.
The dry weight of the electric motorcycle is mentioned to be 130 kg on the company website. For its make, RGNT Motorcycles has used a steel frame with standard telescopic fork and dual rear shocks that feature chrome coilover springs. Other than that, the bike comes with disc-brakes with CBS, LED lights all around, and a digital touch infotainment system with GPS.
Being electric, the RGNT No.1 will feature regenerative braking for added range. Priced at 9,500 Euros (~ Rs 7.8 lakh), the bike seems to be a bit costly for the performance it promises. Nevertheless, more details will follow when the bike is launched and the company might be able to make it more appealing to prospective customers with added benefits.
