Taiwan is experiencing its worst drought in 56 years. The water level in several reservoirs and water bodies has hit a record low and parts of the Sun Moon Lake--one of TaiwanĄ¯s most iconic lakes--appears to have gone completely dry.
But for one lucky tourist, this adversity came with a stroke of good luck. The man successfully recovered a fully functional iPhone 11 that he had accidentally spilled in the lake exactly one year ago, Taiwan News reported. Perhaps, they were taking a break?
The man, surnamed Chen, in a now-viral Facebook post, wrote that he was wearing the iPhone around his neck while paddleboarding on the lake on March 15 last year before he fell off the board and lost the phone.
Over a year later in early April, Chen received notice that his phone had been found lying on the dry lakebed, the report mentioned. That got him so excited that he suffered insomnia for a few days.
The good thing is that the iPhone 11 Pro Max, which is rated to survive a maximum depth of 4 meters up to only 30 minutes, was encased in the water-proof pouch.
On April 2, Chen returned to Sun Moon Lake to find the heavily soiled pouch, which to his delight, was still fully intact.?
Chen said that the phone worked perfectly after he charged it, and shared photos on a Facebook group to show that the iPhone booted once it had enough power.
Someone gift me that waterproofing case RN!
