WhatsApp is constantly testing new features, and one of these features that could eventually see the light of day is called "Audio Chat." Spotted in development on the latest WhatsApp beta for Android by the curious folks at WABetaInfo, the only thing we know about the feature so far is its name - Audio Chat.
Owing to the fact that not much is known about the feature, it's unclear how Audio Chat will work.?
How would Audio Chat be different, then? Only time will tell. In the meanwhile, it appears that WhatsApp is also testing one-time voice messages on the app - similar to how one-time images work. Such features are of use especially for those who value their privacy.

The Audio Chat feature was spotted in the Android beta version 2.23.7.12 and is expected to become available (if it does, at all) within a WhatsApp user's conversation window. The three-dot window menu within the conversation is where it might become available to users, as indicated in a screenshot shared by WABetaInfo. A waveform icon right next to three-dot menu gives us a glimpse into the feature placement.

If the feature makes it to future versions of WhatsApp, it'll be available on both Android and iOS.?
