Twitter, err, X is at it again! Just yesterday, Elon Musk removed headlines from news story links that are shared on the platform, claiming that it would make the website look better. Now, it appears that X is removing the action bar - where you see the number of likes, reposts, shares, reach, and views.
Musk claims that in the near-future, X will only display view count under a post on X, unless the user clicks on it for full visibility. The social media platform has been making a slurry of changes to how it operates. Not too long ago, Elon Musk rebranded Twitter as X, although some links still show "twitter.com." It's unclear when the standardisation exercise will finish.
In the meanwhile, Musk says the action buttons are being removed to improve readability. When this happens, X will move closer to a YouTube-like aesthetic wherein you can see only the views beneath the title, along with a time stamp.

In post on X, Elon Musk stated the decision to remove news URLs was made because "those ugly URL cards with repetitive text were making my eyes bleed. So much better now!" Fortune reported that the move to remove headlines had been in the works since August.
At the same time, he announced that "next, we'll remove all the action buttons with their superfluous interaction counts from the main timeline. Just view count will show, unless you tap into a post." He added that "this will greatly improve readability."

X is no longer the platform Twitter was. News organisations like NPR decided against using the service. In addition, it has made sweeping changes to how users interact with each other - the removal of action buttons will change the way X appears for users.
