The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) successfully launched its newest satellite GSAT-24 aboard French private space company Arianespace¡¯s rocket.

Reported first by the Press Trust of India, the ISRO satellite was launched aboard the Ariane-V VA257 rocket from the Guiana Space Centre, based out of Kourou in French Guiana (South America) on Thursday.?
To the unaware, GSAT-24 is a 24-Ku band communication satellite weighing 4,180 kilograms with pan-India coverage for meeting DTH application needs.?
This was regarded as the first demand-driven communication satellite mission that was undertaken by NewSpace India Limited after the reformation of space sectors.?
The company is a government of India venture under the Department of Space. The capacity of the entire satellite has been leased to Indian broadcast giant Tata Play.?

The satellite was shipped to Kourou on May 18 from India using the gargantuan C-17 Globemaster aircraft. The launch also included payload for MEASAT, a popular Malaysian satellite operator.?
MEASET-3d that will be co-located with MEASAT-3a and MEASAT-3b is a multi-mission telecommunications satellite developed by Airbus Defence and Space.?
The satellite is expected to significantly enhance broadband speeds of up to 100Mbps per user in areas with limited to no terrestrial network throughout Malaysia.?
The satellite would also offer redundancy and additional capacity for video distribution in HD, 4K and 8K in the Asia-Pacific region.
