New images clicked by the revolutionary James Webb Space Telescope are wowing astronomers and the general public alike. In a new set of images, James Webb shows breathtaking views of the Orion nebula unlike ever before.
While Orion Nebula has been extensively photographed earlier, this is the first time we see the nebula in so much detail. The image has made room for gas clouds and filaments that scientists believe form stars.
Situated about 1,300 light-years away, the Orion Nebula is among the most photographed and well known nebulae.
"We are blown away by the breathtaking images of the Orion Nebula," Els Peeters, an astrophysicist at Western University in Ontario, said in a statement. "We started this project in 2017," Peeters added, "so we have been waiting more than five years to get these data."

The latest images of Orion were obtained by an international consortium of academics, including Western University in Canada, France's National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) and Institut d¡¯Astrophysique Spatiale (IAS), as part of a project called Photodissociation Regions for All that includes 100 scientists from 18 countries.

"We have never been able to see the intricate fine details of how interstellar matter is structured in these environments, and to figure out how planetary systems can form in the presence of this harsh radiation," Emilie Habart, an associate professor at IAS, said in the press release. "These images reveal the heritage of the interstellar medium in planetary systems."
