James Webb Space Telescope is at it again! This time, the space observatory has captured the stunning Pillars of Creation. The famed Pillars of Creation are a star-forming region with newborn stars and spires of dust and gas, as visible in the new image.
The new image, released on Wednesday, adds more allure to James Webb's colourful catalogue of space images in less than a year. The Pillars of Creation are situated in nursery known as the Eagle Nebula (or Messier 16). This nursery is about 6,500 light-years away from Earth.
The region was first captured by the Hubble Space Telescope in 1995, and then again in 2014, making it famous. But Webb's image is more detailed, for it can see through the dust to reveal more stars and details.

Such observations can help astronomers get a better understanding of star forming processes, NASA said. Webb is a key player in this space journey, for its instruments can find distant stars and galaxies in infrared and near-infrared light, allowing the telescope to see beyond human sight.?
In addition, it can also capture details that are invisible to other telescopes like Hubble that relies on visible light.

The wavy lines that appear like lava at the edges of some pillars are actually "ejections from stars that are still forming within the gas and dust." Webb was launched on December 25 last year and has already offered us stunning views of the universe.
