Today, face masks have become an integral part of our lives -- COVID-19 has made this almost indispensable. And while we know how important wearing face masks actually is in not only saving our lives but also the lives of people near us, it can get irritating and annoying to have it on for hours.?
However, for people who wear glasses, the irritation of wearing the mask increases ten folds when breathing causes fogging of the glasses. No matter how perfectly you try to adjust the nose grab or the elastic on the face mask, it still manages to fog up the glasses.
One artist in Japan, Takahiro Shibata, also faced similar distress with masks fogging up his eyes. One day, he decided that he¡¯ll try to create a mask of his own that won¡¯t fog up. Reported first by Reuters, he tested different designs and methods to wear masks but none seemed to work.
After realising how impossible achieving this was, with the tools and skills he possessed, he decided to make a mask that does the opposite of what he intended it to do, just for fun. He developed a mask that would fog up the glasses even more.?
He made a cool looking mask that looks like an actual ramen bowl strapped onto his face, that while breathing would purposely fog up the glasses. Oddly enough, this made it appear like it's the steaming hot ramen that¡¯s making the glasses fog up.?The mask-bowl actually has real ingredients that are found in a ramen bowl including braised pork, fish cakes (like the ones we¡¯ve seen in Naruto¡¯s bowl of ramen) bamboo shoots, green onions and of course, dried noodles.?
Shibata states that this mask isn¡¯t something that he wants to sell, nor does he plan on mass producing this hilarious novelty mask. He has also expressed how impractical this whole thing is, since the bottom has layers of cotton like a stuffed toy that makes it pretty difficult to breathe. But hey, it looks yummy.
While Shibata has admitted that this was all for some fun, people need to understand that when picking a face mask, looks come second and safety is of utmost importance.
We¡¯ve already shown what absurd kind of face masks have come into the market and how you should pick the simple one with multiple layers that passes the candle test to prevent the aerosols from entering and going out. And obviously goes without saying, wearing face masks doesn¡¯t mean you mustn't follow social distancing.?
By the way, Is anyone craving for a bowl of ramen now?
