After disrupting the auto, solar and space industries, Elon Musk wants to leave a huge mark on the future of humanity or AI -- whichever way you look at it. The billionaire entrepreneur just started a company to achieve just that!

Elon Musk announced Neuralink Corp, a brand new company which will focus exclusively on the development of brain computer interface like you¡¯ve never seen before.
The ultimate aim of Elon Musk¡¯s latest company is to blur the lines between organic, flesh-and-blood human brain and artificial intelligence, and make the two entities talk to each other and interact like never before.
According to people familiar with the matter, Elon Musk¡¯s Neuralink will work on developing a revolutionary ¡°neural lace¡± framework which would help the human brain interact directly with computers and machines -- without the need of any other physical device.
This news slightly contradicts Elon Musk¡¯s own warnings against AI, which he had hinted at only last month, claiming deep AI would be detrimental to humanity that¡¯s increasingly is heading towards a cyborg-enabled future.
Elon Musk himself hasn¡¯t really confirmed his plans for Neuralink yet, but he had registered the company name in July 2016. And according to multiple reports emerging yesterday, Elon Musk¡¯s Neuralink project seems to be taking off the ground.
The concept of neural lace, where humans develop the ability to interact with digital systems and artificial intelligence in a homogeneous, symbiotic way has been described in great detail in science-fiction literature. But very little human research has been conducted on the human brain to actually establish an intimate link through a digital interface, and any neuroscience gains on the medical front have been extremely meagre, because the challenges in this field are so immense. That¡¯s why Elon Musk¡¯s Neuralink effort is so full of promise.

Whether it¡¯s re-using space rockets, or disrupting the electric car or solar energy industry, whatever Elon Musk has touched has pretty much turned to gold. Let¡¯s hope for the sake of humanity and the advancement of artificial intelligence, the man doesn¡¯t lose his midas touch just yet.
