41-YO Pianist Sets New Record After Performing World’s Highest Concert On Himalayan Mountains

In a first, a 41-year-old female musician has set the world record for the highest ever classical concert after taking a grand piano 5,000m up a Himalayan mountain pass.?

Evelina De Lain, a pianist from London, carried the grand piano up to the Singela Pass in the Himalayas, India, along with a team of mountain climbers.?

Lain performed Chopin’s Nocturnes No. 2 in E flat major and No. 20 in C sharp minor during the 90-minute performance in India, reports The Independent.?

“I would never in a million years ever think I’d play classical piano again let alone play the highest classical concert but I’m not one to shy away from a challenge” she was quoted as saying.

?‘Concert in the Clouds’ was to raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust and the piano was donated to the local school, states the report.

The concert was a tribute to her mother who was also her best friend said Evelina. After Evelina’s mother passed away in 2017, she bought a piano from trip organiser Desmond Gentle and she hasn't stopped since.
