A woman named Pankhuri Mishra was arrested in Bengaluru on Sunday after a video surfaced showing her assaulting an auto-rickshaw driver. The incident took place on Saturday and involved an argument that escalated into a physical confrontation. The driver, Lokesh, was seen being hit with a slipper by Mishra. The video quickly spread on social media, leading to police action. Mishra was released later on station bail.
The argument began when Mishra, who was travelling with her husband on a two-wheeler, claimed that the auto driver had run over her foot. Lokesh denied this claim. During the confrontation, Mishra hit the driver multiple times with her slipper. Lokesh said he began recording the incident as the woman was speaking in Hindi and not the local language, Kannada, which made it difficult for bystanders to understand the context.
In the video, Mishra is heard saying, ¡°Banaega video? Chal bana video,¡± as she continues to hit Lokesh with her slipper. She is also seen calling someone on the phone, stating, ¡°He first ran over my foot and is now recording a video.¡± Her husband remained seated on the two-wheeler and was recording the incident himself. The confrontation ended with the couple appearing to apologise to Lokesh and bowing to him.
Following the incident, Mishra apologised to the auto driver, citing concerns related to her pregnancy. ¡°I apologise. I am pregnant. So, that is what I was thinking, what would happen if I had a miscarriage,¡± she told the driver. She also stated that she does not hold any negative feelings towards Kannada speakers. ¡°We love Bengaluru, we love the culture and we love the people,¡± she added. Mishra is originally from Bihar and is currently out on station bail.
