Sometimes your luck is all that saves you. A teenager's life was miraculously spared when a herd of buffaloes saved him from a bear attack in Betul district of Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday.?
The bone-chilling incident happened in Bhainsdehi jungle of the district, when a minor boy named Deepak was grazing his goats. The bear charged at the boy and injured him. However, a nearby herd of buffaloes arrived at the scene and saved Deepak's life.

According to a report in Times of India, the boy has injuries on his hand and legs. He was referred to Betul district hospital for treatment. It was sheer luck for Deepak - a resident of Ghoghal village - that he lived to tell the tale, because bear attacks generally result in the mauling.
The report further adds that the bear and its cub were surprised when they saw Deepak on the fringes of the jungle. As a protective instinct, the bear charged at the boy.
Deepak said, "I was very much scared. However, there were several buffaloes grazing nearby. When they saw the bear attacking me, they lunged at it forcing it to flee."

A village boy witnessed the attack and went running to inform Deepak's father about the incident.
"I immediately rushed to the spot and took him to Amla health center from where he was referred to Bhainsdehi health center and later to Betul Hospital," said Deepak's father, Bakhal.
There were at least 15-20 buffaloes that attacked the bear and rescued Deepak, and he is now said to be in stable condition.?
South Betul DFO, PD Gabriel, said there are a lot of bears in the jungle and attacks are becoming common.?

The officer said that the boy was lucky that he was saved by a herd of buffaloes, otherwise, the outcome could have been much worse.
