People stuck in city life often dream about giving it all up and starting a new life in the mountains. The idea of quitting their job and getting a chance to get close to nature at some scenic hill station is very enticing for many. A couple from Madhya Pradesh did just that, and all the while supporting a cause.??
A couple from Madhya Pradesh, Nikhil and Paridhi,?trekked 3,200 km from Manali to Srinagar to spread awareness about environmental issues. Last July, Paridhi and Nikhil started their journey after quitting their corporate jobs to pursue their passion for adventure. However, due to a wedding in the family and a nail-biting cold in Ladakh, they were forced to stop their journey. With more enthusiasm, they returned to Ladakh this March to restart their trek-for-a-cause.? ?
The couple decided to walk through Ladakh, from Manali to Srinagar, covering almost 3200 km by foot.? Their philosophy for this journey is, "Maximum time, minimum places," where they want to closely experience Ladakh. They describe their trekking journey as "the most beautiful story of their lives" and call it "walk-xpedition," a word play on "walk" and "expedition". As per reports, Paridhi said, "We trekked for around 3,200 km to reach Lal Chowk through 19 mountain passes. We wanted to raise awareness about the environment and the need to preserve it."?
"We reached Manali in a bus and started walking from there. Manali to Leh, covering all the five valleys. From Leh to Khalsar, Siachen, Hunder and Turtuk, we covered it all. We even got to see a snow leopard at a trek, thankfully," Paridhi quipped. The couple is covering a lot of villages in Ladakh and also raising awareness about the environment.??
The couple prepped for the trek six to seven months prior. They got the resources and started physical training as well. The couple thought that if they were walking they might as well do something good on the way.?"If we are walking, we will take a good cause with us," Paridhi quips. The couple plants a tree whenever they leave a village during their trek. "When we started, we were carrying garbage bags with us and picking up the waste on the way. The plan was to dump it all out in the nearest so it could be properly taken care of," she said.?
