The ocean inhabits a vast diversity of marine creatures who all have their own distinct qualities - one such magnificent creature is the Orca - it can swim up to 56 speed km/h.?
This mean that these killer whales would be in neck-to-neck competition of the fastest marine animal - the common dolphin - in a race. Recently, an orca went viral after catching up to a speed boat that appears to be zipping across the open ocean at full throttle.?
Watch the video here. It was posted with the caption, "You can't even get away from a Orca in a speed boat. You running for your life and Shamu doing flips in the water."
The humungous oceanic dolphin made some playful?close approaches to the speed boat in the video that has amassed more than 2.7 million views. However, the 45-second clip has brought some interesting apprehensions about orcas to light as people seem terrified.
One user wrote, "I would¡¯ve froze up and died right here."?"I think the mama was telling the kids ¡°see this? Don¡¯t eat these. They¡¯ll give you diabetes," wrote another.?A third user wrote, "Orcas so cool fr. Seeing one in the wild on my bucket list."
Here are some more reactions:
Despite the nickname?"killer whales", human beings do not have to worry about getting harmed around them, unless of course threatened. Orcas are not only exceptionally intelligent marine creatures but they also?keep up their end of the deal when interacting in the wild with humans.?
It's hypothesised that this disregard for human flesh comes from the fact that we don't resemble their prey or possibly are unappetising in general. So if you come across the beautiful creatures, have the best time of your life.?
The orca or killer whale (Orcinus orca) is a toothed whale belonging to the oceanic dolphin family, of which it is the largest member. Its appearance is made up of its black-and-white patterned body.
Whales are scared of orcas because they may kill them by torpedoing from below at high speeds or by ramming their sides with their heads. Orcas have the longest teeth and fangs that can be longer than 3 inches when their mouths are closed, making whales significantly weaker in front of them.
