Australia is notorious for being a home to many wild and peculiar creatures. One fisherman recently found a shark in the deep blues with striking features. Unusual for regular sharks, this shark¡¯s features are all together different. See the picture here.?
The shark has a protruding white mouth, bulging eyes and a pointed nose. The fisherman who caught the fish is Trapman Bermagui, from Sydney. He was baffled when he caught the shark from 2,133 feet underwater. Talking about the fish, Trapman said, ¡°It's a rough skin shark, also known as a species of endeavour dog shark. These sharks are common in depths greater than 600 meters. We catch them in the wintertime usually,¡± Newsweek reported.?
Dean Grubbs, associate director of research at the Florida State University Coastal and Marine Laboratory, told Newsweek, "In my deep-sea research, we have caught quite a few of them in the Gulf of Mexico and in the Bahamas. Ours have come from depths of 740 to 1160 meters (~2,400 to 3,800 feet), so a bit deeper than this report. They are in the family Somniosidae, the Sleeper Sharks, the same family of the Greenland Shark, but obviously a much smaller species."?
However, Christopher Lowe, professor and director of the California State University Long Beach Shark Lab, disagreed. He said, "Looks to me like a deep-water kitefin shark, which are known in the waters off Australia. It looks like Dalatias lata to me; however, we discover new species of deep-water shark all the time and many look very similar to each other,¡± Newsweek reported.?
Shocked by surfaced pictures of the deep sea shark, people started speculating about the fish with curiosity, A user wrote, ¡°It might be a goblin shark known to be deep water.¡± Another added, ¡°These look soooo prehistoric.¡±?
Amazed by the bizarre shark, a user also wrote, ¡°it doesn¡¯t look real¡±?
What do you think about his discovery??
