Misplacing your belongings at an airport sounds like a nightmare and a few days ago Tryg insurance's Anders Andersen had to live through the dreaded experience at Bengaluru's Kempegowda International Airport. The Denmark-based business head was on his way back home when he accidentally left behind his beloved watch in an x-ray tray.
When Anders realized that he was missing the watch he had on his wrist, the official was already on a flight to Frankfurt. The watch held emotional significance for Anders as it was a birth present from his late grandmother. In hopes of getting his valuable watch back, Anders wrote an email to the Airport Authority of India, the Bangalore International Airport Ltd., and the Tata Consultancy Services of the UK and Europe.?
Anders was ready to say his final goodbye to his beloved watch, thinking that in such a busy airport that amassed more than 16 million annual visitors in a country of nearly 1.5 billion people, his watch was impossible to find. However, just after 20 minutes, he heard back from all the three authorities he had written to. Now, all three were working to help the foreigner find his valuable.
Though Anders dared not to hold his hopes high, he let himself dream once he received a mail from Bengaluru Airport Terminal Lost & Found at around two in the morning. They had informed him that his watch was safe and sound with them and was ready to be picked up at the airport. Thereafter, a local partner from TCS got a hold of the situation and delivered the watch back to Anders' wrist in Denmark.?
The business head was blown away by the swift action taken by the airport authorities of India and wrote in his LinkedIn post, "This was a tiny needle in a huge haystack situation, and I am overwhelmed by the professionalism, effectiveness and cooperation of Bengaluru Airport CISF and the Terminal Lost & Found team. And I am grateful to Tata Group Consultancy Services team for their local assistance and commitment to reunite me with my watch."
He continued, "This is so far above and beyond what anyone could expect, and I am so grateful for the help enabled by the collaboration and the shared desire to help, which I experienced from everybody involved." Anders went on to hail the professionalism of the authorities and the performance of all the officials at work. He thanked all the people involved in the operation and added tri-colour hearts in his post on the platform to show his respect for the country.
