Mr. Berman is a photographer from San Francisco, California, and he loves sharing the beauty of the world, as per his Instagram bio.?"Yesterday morning, I went for a walk in the Marin Headlands and saw a sight unlike any I'd seen before... A "Fogbow," wrote Mr. Berman while sharing the post.
This phenomenon often referred to as a fogbow or a white rainbow, is much less frequent than its wet counterpart, the rainbow, according to Newsweek.
"The picture was taken at Hawk Hill in the Marin Headlands [peninsula]," photographer Stuart Berman, who lives in San Francisco's Russian Hill neighborhood," Mr. Berman told Newsweek.
"I saw it for about 15-20 minutes, but it was still there when I left," he added.
The images have gone viral because netizens are stunned by their beauty.?
In the caption, the photographer reflected upon what precisely a fogbow is.
Also known as white rainbows, cloud bows, or ghost rainbows, fogbows are "made much as rainbows are, from the same configuration of sunlight and moisture."?He explained in his caption:
"Rainbows happen when the air is filled with raindrops. You always see a rainbow in the direction opposite the sun. Fogbows are much the same, always opposite the sun."
Fogbows, as opposed to more giant massive raindrops, are created by tiny droplets within a fog or cloud.
