They say hardwork and never giving up can get you close to your dreams, something 18-year-old Rekha can vouch for. Rekha ran away from home in Chikkaballapur village, Karnataka to escape child marriage. She found her way to a friend in Bengaluru, and not wasting time, she joined a computer training centre in Hebbal.?
She was determined to become an IAS officer and secured 90.3% in the recently held PU II examinations. She also scored 74% in SSLC examination. Her mother worked as a domestic help.

Not satisfied with the computer course, she called child helpline 1098 seeking help in continuing her education. Later, members of the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) visited her PG and shifted her to Sparsha Trust in Mathikere, Bengaluru. They also helped her get a seat in Government PU College in Gollahali, Nelamagala.
After two years of hard work, on April 18 when her PU results were out, she scored 542/600 in history. Now she wanted to pursue BA in History, Economics and Political Science. ¡°Rekha was determined and focused. She was rescued by the CWC after she sought their help. We are proud of her achievement,¡± said R Gopinath, managing trustee of Sparsha Trust.
