A good samaritan helped cops rescue two children, including a toddler, who were trapped inside a burning building in Arizona, U.S.
The fire broke out in a Mesa apartment near Gilbert Road and Southern Avenue?on Friday, February 18.?
When firefighters arrived on the scene, they found two apartments engulfed in flames on the second floor of the building, Arizona Republic reported.?
Adults who were in the apartment told officers that the 2-year-old and a 6-year-old were trapped in the back room of the apartment.?
As firefighters?tried to put out the fire from the roof, with footage showing plumes of smoke billowing out as it moved into the attics.?Before they became unreachable, a nearby man selflessly leaped to the rescue of two children trapped in the building.
The clip shared online shows the man breaking the glass of the blazing apartment. The team of firefighters is heard instructing him.??
The footage shows the man entering the apartment to retrieve one of the children.?The video then skips to the other rescue, where the older child is removed from the apartment.
Both children were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries and are expected to make a full recovery, Mesa police said.??
¡°According to all who were there, if it wasn¡¯t for the citizen who assisted, the outcome of this incident may have been different,¡± Mesa Police spokesman Richard Encinas told the Arizona Republic. ¡°He saw the fire from a distance, jumped a wall to the apartment complex, and ran toward the fire to help.¡±
While the individual did not want to be identified, he told authorities ¡°he only wanted to help rescue the kids if he could.¡±
