Women have made considerable headway in working spaces. It is not just the influx of female executives but also the entry of women into predominantly male occupations. A new post on Facebook points out the happy news.
A guy named Param Kalyan Singh had an encounter with a rare female Uber driver in Kolkata. He shared his experience of bumping into the driver in a Facebook post and shared an image of the driver along with details of the drive in the caption.
Dipta Ghosh, a female driver for?Uber?India, surprised Singh when she called him up to confirm the pickup location. The female voice on the other side of the call was a rather pleasant surprise for Singh, who is used to drivers?making outlandish demands before accepting a ride.
Singh explained in his caption, "Yesterday booked an App cab for going to Lake Mall.?Received call from a female driver. No it wasn¡¯t the usual queries like.. apnar drop ta kothai or payment cash deben na ki online etc. She just asked in polite tone regarding the pick up location."
Ghosh¡¯s gender was not the only fascinating thing about her. As he chatted a bit more with the driver, Singh found out that Ghosh was actually an electrical engineering graduate. Before 2020, Ghosh had been part of many companies and worked as an engineer.?
However, in 2020, her father passed away suddenly, leaving her, her mother, and a younger sister behind. Every job she got offered after that required her to move out of Kolkata, which was not possible for Ghosh anymore.
To not leave her mother and sister alone after suffering such a grave loss, Ghosh put on a brave face and applied for a commercial driving licence. She bought an Alto car and applied to work as a driver for Uber in 2021.?
For now, Ghosh is satisfied with her job. Singh informed his audience, "She is quite happy with the profession now. She earns about ?40000 a month driving about 6-7 hours daily for 6 days a week." She has no plans to join the corporate workforce back. She enjoys being her own boss without having to log into a device first thing in the morning.?
Singh wrote, "No doesn't want to work for another company as she is happy being her own boss and can go off duty by logging off device. Way to go girl!!"
