In a humanitarian gesture, an auto-driver from Mumbai drove his auto on the platform of Virar Railway station, amidst the heavy rains that have been lashing the city for more than a week now. The woman went into premature labour at the railway platform.?
The video of the incident which went viral on social media, shows the driver speeding on the platform. The driver was identified as Sagar Kamalkar Gawad of Dongarpada, who was seen taking the seven-month pregnant woman to Sanjeevani Hospital.?

The woman and her husband were travelling in a Mumbai local train compartment reserved for disabled persons. However, the rains in the city caused a delay and the train had to be halted at Virar station, where the woman started having labour pains, ANI reported. The incident doesn¡¯t look less than a movie scene, does it?
"Seeing his wife's condition, the husband started panicking and rushed out of the compartment to ask for help. He found Gawad, whose auto was parked in the space allotted by Western Railway (WR) right next to platform number two. He urged Gawad to help him, following which, he brought his auto rickshaw on the platform and rode towards Sanjeevani Hospital in Virar," police inspector Praveen Kumar Yadav told ANI.?

The woman later delivered a premature but healthy baby girl in the hospital on Monday. Basically, the auto-driver¡¯s presence of mind and the risk he took, paid off.
Later in the day, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) arrested Sagar for violating rules but his humanitarian gesture was appreciated by the cops and locals present at the station. On a daily basis, almost everyone of us violate rules and regulations. But if people break rules to help somebody, they deserve some concession, right??
Sagar was produced before the court and released on bail on the same day. "Even though Gawad's intentions were good, he has violated the rules. Driving on the platform could have injured commuters," said Inspector Yadav.
Gawad was charged under sections 154 (rash travelling or negligent act) and 159 (disobedience of drivers) of the Railway Act, 1989.?
In an almost similar incident, an auto-rickshaw was recorded giving a ride to commuters on a railway platform in Shahad station near Mumbai.?
A video was recorded by some passengers on the other side of the platform and it shows the commuter laden auto, driving in speed on the platform. We do not know whether the auto-rickshaw was giving a ride to the commuters from one of the platforms to another or it was just a joyride.
