Tens of thousands of people march against a bill that would allow, for the first time, extraditions to mainland China on April 28 and it was one of the biggest demonstrations since the Umbrella Movement.
For the past few months protests have just gotten intense by the day.?On June 9, organizers say more than one million people join the biggest demonstration since the return to Chinese rule.

During the protests that took place at the end of July, one elderly woman,?armed with nothing but a walking stick,?single-handedly stop the police from attacking protesters in Yuen Long town, Hong Kong.
The video of the ¡°furious and fearless¡± granny¡¯s shot on July 27 by Hong Kong pro-democracy activist Joshua Wong and this powerful image of her reprimanding the riot police shot by photojournalist Laurel Chor, have gone viral on the internet.
On July 28, police engaged in a serious stand-off with pro-democracy protesters close to Beijing¡¯s office in Hong Kong, launching volleys of tear gas and rubber bullets.
The woman in Laurel Chor's picture appears to be appealing to the police, telling them not to fire rubber bullets or harm any of the protesters.
Veteran pro-democracy activist Joshua Wong then shared a video of the woman, in which she could be seen standing facing police lines
According to Wong, "she cried and asked riot police not to fire bullet towards youngsters."
According to reports on 27th July,?peaceful march in the town of Yuen Long to condemn an attack by suspected gang members on commuters turned violent as Hong Kong riot police fired teargas and rubber bullets on the crowd.?
Journalists, children and a pregnant women were among those beaten. At least 45 people were injured on this day.
A Guardian report states that the protesters? many of whom were wearing black T-shirts retaliated by throwing umbrellas and water bottles on the cops.?
Another report on the Washington Post states that protesters were seen digging up bricks from sidewalks, which they threw at riot police.?
¡°Hong Kong is our home, it is our freedom to go everywhere. I¡¯m just here exercising my rights,¡±?Washington Post?quoted a young protester as saying.?
¡°We can¡¯t rely on the police, so we have to rely on each other. That¡¯s why everyone is here, to show support for each other,¡± she added.?
On August 3, which marks the ninth consecutive weekend of protests, demonstrators erect barricades in a popular tourist district. Tens of thousands of protesters marched through the streets of Tsim Sha Tsui.
