A pizza delivery man has been hailed as a hero for risking his own life and running into a burning home to rescue five children.?
The incident took place in Indiana, US, on July 11.?
Nicholas Bostic, 25, was driving past midnight when he noticed a house on fire. He quickly turned around and parked in the driveway. Without thinking much, he immediately rushed inside the burning house to rescue four siblings (aged 1, 6, 13 and 18) and a 13-year-old who had come for a sleepover.
Footage captured by a police officer's body camera shows Bostic carrying the child and running out of the burning house. It also shows the 25-year-old handing the kid over to first responders?after bringing the child to safety.??
According to the police department, Bostic ran to the back of the home, opened the door, and headed upstairs before getting some of the youngsters out. But upon finding out that the six-year-old was still inside, he ran back into the burning house.?
Bostic first searched upstairs where he found the other four children, but couldn't find the child. Despite thick smoke, he went towards a window to exit the home when he heard a childĄ¯s cry from downstairs.??When he found her, he could not remember where the back door was and went back up the stairs.?Bostic?then punched out a window so they could escape to safety.?
"Nicholas Bostic's heroic actions saved lives. His selflessness during this incident is inspiring, and he has impressed many with his courage, tenacity and steadfast calmness in the face of such perilous danger. The Lafayette Police Department, the Lafayette Fire Department and the Honorable Mayor Tony Roswarski are eternally grateful for Nicholas' intervention and would like to publicly recognise him for his actions," the press release read.??
