Avnish Chhikara, 22, had to pay his B Tech fees by giving home tuitions and now he has got a job in Amazon at an annual package of Rs 67 lakh.?
A student of Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University of Science and Technology (DCRUST), Murthal, in Sonipat, Avnish is the son of a farmer-cum-driver of Kraweri village. His achievement, which came through sheer determination and persistence, has made his parents really proud.?
Talking to the media, he referred to the challenges he had to face given the limited resources his family had.?
"There were times when I had no money to pay my university fees, but I managed somehow, partially by giving tuitions," he said.?
Avnish also said that he used to study for 10 hours every day after his engineering classes. He had applied for an internship in Amazon during the pandemic at a monthly stipend of Rs 2,40 lakh.?
Impressed by his work during the internship, he was offered a package of Rs 67 lakh per annum by the American tech giant. After a year, the package could go as far as Rs 1 crore.?
DCRUST vice-chancellor Prof Anayath, was all praises for Avnish, saying that he was proud that a student from modest background had achieved this feat by virtue of his hard work. He also hoped that other students would take inspiration from Avnish's story and strive for greater things.?
