Over the past two months, incidents of healthcare workers being subjected to ill-treatment and abuse have been breaking our hearts almost every other day. From neighbours harassing doctors to shopkeepers discriminating against them in the paranoia of catching COVID-19, it was making everyone extremely furious with those who were encouraging such behaviour.
However, on the other hand, some people have come out and proved to the world that not everyone is the same. Neighbours and society-members of this healthcare worker in Pune welcomed her back home after 20 days of attending to COVID-19 patients with such warmth, that it will make you happy-cry.
Rajashree Kanade is a nurse at Pune's Sassoon Hospital and in a video posted on Twitter by Pune Mirror, she can be seen heading back to her society where she is greeted with enthusiasm by her grateful neighbours and family members.
According to the video, Kanade had been working in the ICU ward of the hospital for the last 20 days and was overwhelmed with emotion when she returned to see her family.?
Her neighbours showered her with flower petals as a gesture of respect and thanked her for her selfless service to the global crisis that has claimed thousands of lives around the world. They even presented her with handmade placards which welcomed her back home.?
Our healthcare workers are the heroes who are putting their lives at risk every day in order to ensure that as many lives as possible, can be saved. Kindness and warmth is the least they deserve, because we have a lot to thank them for.
