The Delhi Police have apprehended a suspect in the murder of a doctor who was shot dead inside a nursing home in the national capital's Kalindi Kunj area. According to reports, the accused, a 16-year-old boy, was detained from Hapur on Thursday.?
After the shocking murder, the teenager allegedly uploaded a photo of himself on Instagram with a caption reading: "Kar diya 2024 mein murder" (Finally committed murder in 2024).
"The police obtained clues about one of the suspects from his Instagram account. After the murder, he posted a story in which he was holding a pistol and claimed to have committed the first murder of 2024," police said.
According to the police, the husband of a nurse who also worked in the three-bedded Nima Hospital may have been behind the murder of Dr. Javed Akhtar, a Unani practitioner. He suspected the doctor of having an affair with his wife and promised the teenager that he would get his daughter married to him if he killed the victim. The nurse and her husband have also been questioned by the police in connection with the case.

The teenager, along with his accomplice, a 17-year-old, went to Nima Hospital, a small nursing home in Khadda Colony, in the early hours of Thursday when the victim was working a night shift. One of them pretended to have an injury that needed treatment, and after receiving first aid, went to the doctor's cabin and shot him dead, without any provocation.
According to Joint Commissioner of Police (Southern Range) S. K. Jain, the accused, who are also from the same locality, were caught on CCTV cameras installed in the nursing home while they were fleeing after committing the crime. During the investigation, it also emerged that the accused conducted a reconnaissance a day earlier.
